Southern Pines

Our state has many wonderful qualities — the beautiful coast, the friendly people, etc.

But our state is not very creative when it comes to naming places.

On Saturday, we visited a prime example — Southern Pines.

I can just imagine the discussion when they named the town.

“We’re in the south, and there are a lot of pine trees around here.”

“Hey, I know! Let’s name the town Southern Pines!”

It is a sweet little town known for golfing and shopping.

Can you guess why we went there?

I like to get an early start on Christmas gifts. I still won’t finish until right before Christmas, but this somehow makes me feel a little more in control of things.

My mom and sister came with us. It was so much fun to spend the day with them.

Aren’t they beautiful?

The N.C. State football game started at noon, so we had to find a place to eat and watch the game.

I don’t think my girls had ever seen so many TVs in one place before.

They didn’t eat a bite.
